Privacy Policy

PromptCatch is a local-first Chrome extension. Most snippet and export activity stays on your device.

What data PromptCatch handles

PromptCatch may process the following data on your device:

• Text that you explicitly select on webpages.
• Page metadata needed for attribution (page title and URL).
• Locally saved snippet stack and document metadata in browser local storage.
• Markdown export files saved to your local Downloads folder.

Billing and license validation data

If you use paid access, PromptCatch processes limited billing and license data:

• The extension sends your license key, extension name, and extension version to our entitlement endpoint hosted on Supabase.
• The entitlement endpoint validates your license key with Lemon Squeezy and returns plan status (for example, Free or Lifetime).
• Webhook events from Lemon Squeezy may store license and billing metadata in our Supabase database, such as license key, plan, status, customer ID, and event metadata needed for entitlement updates and fraud prevention.

What PromptCatch does not do

• PromptCatch does not require account registration.
• PromptCatch does not store your selected snippets or generated prompts on PromptCatch servers.
• PromptCatch does not sell personal data.
• PromptCatch does not collect, process, or store full card numbers or full card data.

Payments and third-party processors

All checkout, payment processing, tax handling, and card handling are managed by Lemon Squeezy (merchant of record). PromptCatch only receives the minimum billing and license information required to verify entitlement and provide support.

Permissions and why they are used

• contextMenus: add right-click actions for capture and templates.
• storage: store stack, templates, and document metadata locally.
• activeTab + scripting: read currently selected text on demand.
• downloads: save markdown export files to local disk.
• clipboardWrite: copy prompt blocks and file paths.

Data sharing

We do not intentionally share captured snippets with third parties. For payments and license validation, data is shared only with service providers needed to operate paid access, including Lemon Squeezy and Supabase.

Data retention and control

You control local extension data directly:

• Clear stack in the extension popup.
• Remove document metadata from the Documents list.
• Delete exported markdown files from your device.
• Remove the extension to clear extension data.

Billing and entitlement records are retained as needed for service operation, fraud prevention, support, accounting, and legal compliance.

Security

PromptCatch is designed to minimize data movement by keeping snippet data local whenever possible. Billing and license traffic uses HTTPS/TLS in transit.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated when extension behavior, billing, or legal requirements change.
